"I work with the art of monumental layered glass sculptures, because I wanted to work in a medium where I can create something extraordinary. I wanted it to be something challenging, something that takes guts to do… and it is- most likely no one else works professionally in this technique in Latvia. All day, every day I develop the technical and aesthetical aspects of the layered glass craft, because I want to excel in it", - says Ernest Vitin (Ernests Vītiņš).
Recently I have developed an architectural installation. Just like my sculptures, every aspect of it was hand made. The hand treated cut-off line reaches 20 km or 12.5 miles, the weight 22 tons. It is now the largest contemporary artwork in Latvia, possibly in Baltics.
Not only my art is contemporary, but the technique is too, involving the use of modern technology for model development.
